Showing on the Horror Channel on Wednesday at 21:00 and again on Firday at 02:20. My pick of the films this week has to be Death Line. Some people may question why I would pick a 1970s low budget British Indie film for my pick of the week over some of the larger budget American films like Tamara, but I satnd by my decision. Death Line is a cult classic and in many ways its low budget only contributes to its grotesque nature. It has some great cinematography and manages to succeed at making the monster seem pitiable. Definately one to watch.
This week we have a strange mix of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror on the Horror Channel. Hawk The Slayer is a fantasy classic that I fondly remember from my youth, while Fireball and Fire Serpent are low budget science fiction movies worth a watch. This week's horror is a variety of freaks, nazis and the undead. Umbrage The First Vampire and Tamara are showing tonight and are definately worth a look. Baby Blood hails from europe and is a clever, little chiller about pregnancy. Death Line may not be an original theme but is certainly worth watching. As is Nazi Dawn and Red, White and Blue. If you need something to watch during the day then Look What's Happened To Rosemary's Baby shows several times this week.
Although the website has commanded a lot of my attention I did manage to sneak out to the cinema for one film this week. My love of Wake Wood and Dog Soldiers made my choice a no brainer. I had been waiting for the chance to watch A Night In The Woods and on Wednesday I got the opportunity. I went into this film with high hopes for a British Blair Witch but did the film live up to my expectations?
Showing on the Horror Channel on Thursday at 22:55. My pick of the films this week has to be Hellraiser III. Some people would argue that this is the last of the good Hellraiser films. While I may dispute that, Hellraiser III is certainly a great film. There are a few other noteworthy films this week but, in my opinion, they pale in comparison to the black, sexy horror of Hellraiser III. If you want to know more about this film then check out my review.
